Description
A delightful dessert that embodies the essence of autumn with warm flavors, fragrant spices, and a moist texture.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of sliced apples
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- ¾ cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ½ cup of milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan well to prevent sticking.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add 1 cup of sugar and stir until the mixture becomes liquid and caramel-like.
- Add the sliced apples and lemon juice to the skillet. Cook briefly, just until the apples are slightly softened. Then, pour this caramel mixture into the bottom of the prepared cake pan.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt. Set this dry mixture aside.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the prepared flour mixture and milk to the egg mixture, blending until smooth and combined.
- Pour the batter over the arranged apples in the cake pan, spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate.
Notes
To optimize your baking experience, choose firm apples like Granny Smith, ensure softened butter consistency, and avoid overmixing the batter.
