Description

A delicious twist on a classic dessert that combines creamy cheesecake with sweet, juicy apples.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (to prevent browning of apples)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash the apples thoroughly under cold water and pat them dry.
  3. Remove the core from each apple, leaving the bottom intact.
  4. Drizzle lemon juice inside each apple.
  5. In a bowl, combine cream cheese and granulated sugar, and beat until smooth (2-3 minutes).
  6. Add brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt; mix well.
  7. Add sour cream and mix until fully combined.
  8. Fold in crushed graham crackers and chopped nuts.
  9. Fill each apple with the cheesecake mixture.
  10. Place filled apples in a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until apples are tender.
  12. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to brown the tops.
  13. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve warm.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a splash of bourbon or maple syrup to the cheesecake filling.
