Description

Delicious cinnamon rolls with a warm, gooey center and creamy glaze perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Warm the milk to about 110°F, mix with yeast, and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the Dough: Add sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt to activated yeast. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the Filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  6. Roll Out the Dough: Roll the risen dough into a 16×12 inch rectangle.
  7. Add the Filling: Spread butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
  8. Roll and Cut: Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 pieces.
  9. Second Rise: Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Prepare the Icing: Mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  12. Cool and Frost: Allow rolls to cool slightly before drizzling icing on top.

Notes

Ensure to check the expiration date on yeast for best results. Experiment with flavors like nutmeg or chocolate for variation.
