A scrumptious blend of soft, fluffy dough, sweet apples, and warmly spiced cinnamon, perfect for brunch or dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/2-inch thick.
- In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and brown sugar, then sprinkle over the rolled dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch edges to seal.
- Cut the log into 12 to 15 equal pieces.
- Place buns cut-side up in a greased baking dish and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving, optionally drizzled with glaze.
Notes
Serve warm for the best flavor. Experiment with spices or add nuts/raisins for extra texture.
