Description
Light and airy French pastries filled with rich hazelnut cream, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup hazelnut cream (such as Nutella)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Stir until well blended. In another bowl, whisk together butter, milk, and eggs. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Shape the Beignets: On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth, then roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out circles with a cookie cutter or glass.
- Add Hazelnut Cream: Place half the circles on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spoon hazelnut cream into the center, and top with remaining circles, pressing edges to seal.
- Deep Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep fryer or large saucepan. Fry beignets until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Dust with Sugar: Let cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Ensure proper oil temperature for crispy beignets. Seal edges well to prevent leaking during frying.
