Description

A delicious blend of crispy fried chicken and sweet, spicy hot honey served in warm, flaky biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk (for tenderizing)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (for biscuits)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (for biscuits)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1-2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Soak chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Remove chicken from buttermilk, coat in flour mixture, and set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  5. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  6. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  7. Slowly add buttermilk and mix until just combined.
  8. Roll out dough and cut into circles.
  9. Combine honey, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and salt in a small saucepan; heat gently until warm.
  10. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan and fry the chicken until golden brown.
  11. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven until golden.
  12. Assemble by slicing biscuits, placing chicken inside, and drizzling with hot honey.

Notes

Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy coating. Adjust spice level in hot honey to taste.
