Description

Mini apple pies are a delightful dessert perfect for any gathering, combining the classic flavors of apples and warm spices in a charming bite-sized treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium Apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp Allspice
  • ¼ tsp Ground Ginger
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch Slurry
  • 1 Package of Premade Pie Dough (contains 2 crusts)
  • All-purpose Flour (for dusting)
  • 1 Beaten Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp Milk, Cream, or Water (for egg wash)
  • Additional Coarse Brown Sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ground ginger, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well coated, then add the butter and vanilla extract, followed by the cornstarch slurry.
  2. Lightly dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the premade pie dough to about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut out circles from the rolled dough using a round cutter or rim of a glass, needing two rounds for each mini pie.
  4. Place the bottom rounds into a greased muffin tin and spoon the apple filling into them until just below the top.
  5. Place the top rounds over each filled bottom, pinching the edges to seal.
  6. Combine the beaten egg with milk, cream, or water and brush over the tops. Sprinkle with coarse brown sugar.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For the best flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples. Adjust baking time based on your oven’s performance.
