Description
Mini apple pies are a delightful dessert perfect for any gathering, combining the classic flavors of apples and warm spices in a charming bite-sized treat.
Ingredients
- 2 medium Apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Ground Nutmeg
- ¼ tsp Allspice
- ¼ tsp Ground Ginger
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch Slurry
- 1 Package of Premade Pie Dough (contains 2 crusts)
- All-purpose Flour (for dusting)
- 1 Beaten Egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp Milk, Cream, or Water (for egg wash)
- Additional Coarse Brown Sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ground ginger, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well coated, then add the butter and vanilla extract, followed by the cornstarch slurry.
- Lightly dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the premade pie dough to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut out circles from the rolled dough using a round cutter or rim of a glass, needing two rounds for each mini pie.
- Place the bottom rounds into a greased muffin tin and spoon the apple filling into them until just below the top.
- Place the top rounds over each filled bottom, pinching the edges to seal.
- Combine the beaten egg with milk, cream, or water and brush over the tops. Sprinkle with coarse brown sugar.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For the best flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples. Adjust baking time based on your oven’s performance.
