Description

A creamy, cheesy delight that offers a fun twist on the classic mac and cheese. Perfect for family dinners and parties, this dish can be customized with tasty toppings.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: bacon bits, breadcrumbs, chives, or hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, cooking for about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until thickened, stirring frequently.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until well combined.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish and top with your choice of toppings.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra creaminess, add more cheese or a splash of cream. Don’t overcook the macaroni; it should be slightly firm since it will bake again. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
