Ingredients
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: bacon bits, breadcrumbs, chives, or hot sauce
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, cooking for about 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until thickened, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until well combined.
- Transfer to a baking dish and top with your choice of toppings.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden. Enjoy!
