Description

A delightful fusion of textures and flavors, blending chewy kunafa with rich, fudgy brownies.


Ingredients

  • 1 package kunafa (shredded phyllo dough)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup crushed pistachios
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the kunafa and melted butter, mixing well. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined. Stir in chocolate chips if desired.
  4. Pour the brownie batter over the pressed kunafa, spreading it evenly. Top with the remaining kunafa mixture, pressing gently.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
