Delightful and customizable cake pops inspired by Starbucks, perfect for parties and special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 box (13.25 oz) vanilla cake mix
- ⅓ cup neutral oil (vegetable, avocado, canola, etc.)
- 1 cup milk or water
- 4 large eggs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp milk (add more if needed)
- 12 oz candy melts
- White nonpareils or sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325-350℉ (162-175℃).
- In a large bowl, mix all cake ingredients and pour batter into a prepared pan.
- Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, then transfer the cake to a mixing bowl to crumble.
- Make buttercream by mixing powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, salt, and milk.
- Combine crumbled cake with buttercream until well blended.
- Roll mixture into 1¼-inch balls and freeze for 15 minutes.
- Melt a small portion of candy melts; dip lollipop sticks into the melted candy and insert into the cake balls.
- Freeze cake balls again for 15 minutes.
- Dip each cake pop into melted candy, let excess drip off, and quickly decorate with sprinkles.
- Place pops upright in a styrofoam block until the coating sets.
Notes
Ensure the cake is fully cooled before crumbling. Do not skip chilling steps to maintain the shape of cake pops.
